It's wild how much longevity the Doge meme has. Who would've thought that a meme of a perplexed-looking dog that hit the meme scene in 2013 would still be in the international conversation over 10 years after it first went viral? Elon Musk is mostly to blame for this. He famously made Doge the Twitter logo and is now apparently going to run the Department of Government Efficiency as a Presidential cabinet member. Of course, the popular cryptocurrency Dogecoin didn't hurt the doggie's clout, either. Kabosu, the dog who was Doge, sadly passed away earlier this year. She was 18 years old, and although she's no longer with us, she won't soon be forgotten.
The best thing about animal memes is that they preserve images of creatures with such short lifespans. Who knows if the animals in these memes are still alive in real life, but they shall live forever through memes.
