For much of the 20th century, parenting was an incredibly private thing. Your parent friends might tell you what they do to discipline their kids, but that doesn't mean you get a front-row seat to all of their questionable parenting decisions. With the advent of social media, nothing stops anyone from sharing their parenting journey with strangers. If you get on the child-rearing side of Instagram for too long, you'd be convinced that most parents are homeschoolers who don't allow screen time before their child is 16, despite them having a digital footprint in utero. There's a positive and negative side to this social-media parenting culture. You might not feel as isolated with your problems as a parent, but the children featured in the content have their privacy compromised.
