Sometimes things are simply humorous. They make you chuckle, and you can't quite articulate why. The alchemy of a laugh is almost impossible to dissect. Some say that comedy is simply tragedy plus time. Some say that things are funny because they're true. I think these are both valid formulas, but sometimes things are just funny because they're stupid. They're so inane, idiotic, and off-kilter that you just have to laugh.
Because we don't get to do most of that stuff in our daily lives. We have to spend all day being serious and buttoned up. We have to say sentences that make sense and look people in the eye. We have to not laugh when funny things happen. We have to project authority and professionalism. This is why we turn to memes when the day is done. So we can loosen our collars and get a little weird. So we can laugh at whatever we please.
