Every state has its idiosyncrasies, it's a beautiful thing. Illinoisans know never to call it the Willis Tower. Almost every Wisconsinite knows how to make the perfect Wisconsin old-fashioned just based on intuition alone. "This is always knee-high by the fourth of July" only makes sense to people who live in Iowa. Michiganders know that Superman is not just a comic book hero, but a deliciously cold summer treat. Ohio residents know that "The Jake" isn't just what you call your aging frat brother, and Minnesotans know that the Jucy Lucy is the only way to go when it comes to burgers.
We each have our own little quirks and traditions, but we all come together under the umbrella of the Midwest and I think that's wonderful. Because at the end of the day, we all bow down to the gods of corn. And memes. Midwest memes, to be exact.
